Chicken scratching 3/13
The Chickens and I are ecstatic to be out in the sunshine scratching at the earth. Despite the fact that the thermometer is just over the freezing mark, I've been using my new plastic rake (a belated birthday present- It isn't every woman who would ask for such an exotic gift) and getting at the leaves that have bunched up on the edge of the driveway. My chickens who are roaming the driveway in the afternoon sun of course come over to investigate and begin scratching where I have been scratching. They love exposed earth even though I fear it is still too frozen to yield any juicy tidbits like earthworms. Still they follow me around scratching with their big yellow rubbery feet where I have been scratching with my large green plastic rake.
