The garden beckoned and for the first time in months I listened. It was warm and sunny and I was so sick of looking at those twisted tomato vines that I plunged in. Once in I cleared the whole garden of the detritus of the fall and winter- flattened leaves, old cucumber vines now thin and papery and the cabbage stems still thick and secure in the soil. Not far below the surface were layers of ice so I think I will forego the traditional St. Paddy's day pea planting until this weekend- assuming it stays warm.
The chickens had another day out in the sun and they found dirt piles to burrow into. They looked like the cats sunning themselves.
