Zen and the Art of Raking

I'm afraid that the rake is going to become one of those objects that will mystify people someday. They will stand around staring at it and wonder what it was used for like a typewriter or a dial telephone.I can't imagine taking care of a yard without a really strong rake. On a warm spring day, running a rake over a patch of lawn, picking up the leftover leaves and dead grass, you can almost hear the lawn waking up and breathing again. Those noisy blowing machines can't do that. Of course I often prefer the broom to the vacuum just because it doesn't seem right to disturb the day with that electronic noise. There is altogether too much noise in this world already.
