Amigurumi- I had heard the term. I had also heard that it was "all the rage" in some knit/crochet circles so when I was in Barnes & Noble looking for a way to utilize my $10 gift certificate, I picked up Tiny Yarn Animals by Tamie Snow and took it home to try. I felt like a kid with a new toy. I couldn't wait to start playing with it. of course I was already mid-project; a sweater for my son. I was on the sleeves which is always the point at which I am losing interest. I also had the next project lined up and before I found my new toy, I was looking forward to that one-(Baby sweater with organic Cotton) but all were swept aside while I rummaged through my stash to find bits of yarn to use for my first little animals. This is just the kind of project I love because it's using up leftovers. In fact I already had everything I needed; yarn, crochet needle, old buttons, embroidery thread and polyester stuffing because I am a pack rat for needlecraft materials. I even found a good substitute for the polybeads which it calls for for heavier stuffing so the animals will sit. I used a few of the glass beads used in flower arrangements for the lamb and the elephant. Seems to work fine.
