The Peas of March

March 28 and the peas are planted. They had to wait for two things- one was a rebuilding of their beds; they now have brown TREX sides which look great and will last forever and secondly the weather. The calendar and the old ones may say peas by St Patrick's day but today the earth felt ready. Several days of warmer weather had warmed the soil, it was about to rain and it was just right. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could always do things not according to the clock or the time table but when it felt right to do it. It would require a patience we seem to have lost by the roadside and also a quietness and ability to listen. The earth told me it was ready for planting. I would like to be able to hear the inner voice of other pursuits: job obligations, hobbies. We all too often do it because we have a moment or because it must be done now in order to do other things later.
